Akron, Ohio – The D'Youville University women's track and field team competed in the Al Campbell Invitational hosted by the University of Akron on Friday.

Junior
Lainie Smith (Lancaster, N.Y.) and sophomore
Jenna Capolupo (Wheatfield, N.Y.) both brought home second-place finishes for the Saints. Smith took second in the 3000m with a time of 10:16.12, shattering the personal record that she set last weekend. Capolupo's second-place finish came in the long jump with a score of 5.50m.

Sophomore
Madison MacNeill (West Seneca, N.Y.) took eighth place out of nineteen in the high jump with a score of 1.60. Also competing in the event for the Saints were graduate student
Lydia Smith (Williamsport, Pa.) and freshman
Tayden Persons (Sherman, N.Y.), who finished sixteenth and nineteenth, respectively.

In the 200m, Capolupo finished twentieth out of forty runners with a time of 26.57. Freshmen
Gabrielle Tripi (West Seneca, N.Y.) and
Taylor Bond (Rushman, N.Y.) both posted career bests in the event. Tripi placed thirty-second with a time of 29.18 and Bond placed thirty-sixth with a time of 30.46.

In the mile run, graduate student
Lydia Smith placed fifteenth in a field of twenty-eight with a time of 5:32.24. Junior
Lexie Hillman (Alden, N.Y.) finished twenty-second with a time of 5:54.06.

Bond
(Rushman, N.Y.) posted the best time of her college career thus far in the 400m at 1:08.66, finishing twenty-eighth in a field of thirty-one.

In the 800m, senior
Sevilla Groebe (Gilbert, Ariz.) finished twenty-third out of twenty-six runners with a time of 2:37.46. Hillman came in right behind her with a time of 2:41.35.

In the 4x400 relay, the Saints' team of Groebe,
Lainie Smith,
Lydia Smith, Hillman, Bond, and Persons claimed eighth place in a field of 12 teams with a time of 4:11.46.

D'Youville will be back in action next Friday when they compete in the River Hawk Invite hosted by the University of Massachusetts-Lowell.
