GENEVA, Ohio – Back in action in over a month, the D'Youville University women's track & field team headed west as they competed in the Spire Midwest Open.
For the Saints,
Jenna Capolupo (Wheatfield, N.Y.) had a strong outing with a pair of fifth-place finishes in the long jump (5.26m) and 200 meter dash (27.00) while also having a 10th-place finish in the 60-meter dash (8.11).
DYU had many personal bests on the day with
Lydia Smith (Williamsport, Pa.) setting a PR in the high jump with 1.50m while also setting a new PR in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:33.48.
Sevilla Groebe (Gilbert, Ariz.) had a stellar performance in the 600 meter, finishing with a time of 1:49.76.
Raechel Zielinski (Hamburg, N.Y.) made her season debut, racing in the 800 meter to place 11th, finishing with a time of 2:22.86.
Minna Cederman-Kobayashi set PR's in two events on the day in the 400 meter run (1:16.78) and the 800 meter run (3:02.51).
The Saints had a pair of relays compete in the 4000 meter distance medley as the team of
Lily Schulz (Lockport, N.Y.),
Barbara Kunz,
Lydia Smith, and Zielinski placed third with a time of 14:15.28. The team of
Lainie Smith (Lancaster, N.Y.),
Lexie Hillman (Alden, N.Y.), Groebe, and Cederman-Kobayashi placed fourth with a time of 14:37.43.
DYU will be back in action next weekend as they travel to the Riverhawk Invitational for the two-day event starting on January 26th.
