STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -The D'Youville Saints women's track and field team turned out a competitive showing in the East Coast Conference Championships, finishing seventh out of eleven teams and delivering four individual All-Conference performances.
Saints' Junior Jenna Capolupo earned First-Team All-Conference honors in the Long Jump, finishing with a 5.48m leap to capture second place in the event. In the distance events, fellow DYU Junior, Lilianna Peters, took home First and Second Team All-Conference honors, finishing fourth in the 5000m (18:41.28) and eighth in the 3000m (11:02.83). Following close behind in the 5000m was third-year Saint Lily Schulz, earning eighth place and Second-Team All-ECC with a time of 20:01.57.
In the relays, the Saints turned in a strong showing in the 4,000-meter distance medley, as the quartet of Sokhna Diagne, Tayden Persons, Barbara Kunz, and Andrea Marquina combined for a third-place finish with a time of 13:05.68.
D'Youville was well represented in the 200-meter dash, with Jenna Capolupo leading the Saints after placing 15th overall in a deep and competitive sprint field with a time of 26.88. She was followed by Granderson-Florence (27.65), Gabrielle Tripi (28.59), and Jordin Brown (32.14), highlighting the continued development of the Saints' sprint group against the conference's top speed athletes.
The Saints also placed multiple athletes into the championship field in the middle-distance events. In the 800 meters, Diagne paced D'Youville with a time of 2:34.47, narrowly ahead of Taylor Bond at 2:35.39. Harper Minaker (2:40.88), Kunz (2:44.90), and Cecilia Cowen (2:47.96) rounded out the performances, gaining valuable postseason experience as part of a young Saints lineup.
The championships reflected continued progress for the Saints as they've laid a strong foundation for future ECC success.
