YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The D'Youville University women's track & field team delivered a strong showing over the weekend at the Youngstown State University Mid-Major Invitational, highlighted by personal-best performances and competitive finishes in several large fields.
Freshmen stole the spotlight for D'Youville in their final opportunity to hit the track before the ECC Championships. Rylie Biamonte cleared 1.55m to win the high jump against a competitive field, and fellow Saints Freshman, Neveah Granderson-Florence, continuing her strong season by placing third (8.01) in her 60m qualifying heat out of 60 runners. Granderson-Florence also ran 27.31 in the 200m, finishing 59th in a field of 133. Standout Junior Jenna Capolupo carded another strong showing in the long jump, posting a top-10 finish, landing 5.25m and taking ninth place in a field of 52.
In the distance events, Lilianna Peters finished 13th in the 5000m (19:10.18) and Lily Schulz placed 26th (20:00.46). Cecilia Cowen ran 3:23.25 in the 1000m for a personal record, good for 17th in the event. The Saints' 4000m distance medley relay clocked 13:27.89, finishing 13th.
In the throws, Morgan Heise posted a weight throw of 10.53m, good for 34th out of 51 competitors. Sophia Vane made a 9.79m throw in the same event.
D'Youville's indoor season will come to a close February 15th at the East Coast Conference Championships, hosted at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island.
