CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. – The D'Youville University women's track and field team capped off their indoor season on a high note at the ECC Indoor Championships, as
Lainie Smith was crowned an ECC Champion, and the Saints finished fifth overall.

In the 3000m, junior
Lainie Smith (Lancaster, N.Y.) claimed first place with a time of 10:25.57, winning by seven seconds. Graduate student
Lydia Smith (Williamsport, Pa.) also performed well in the event, coming in fifth with a time of 10:53.24.

In the 4000m distance medley relay, the Saints' team of
Lydia Smith,
Lainie Smith, sophomore
Skylar Savage (Attica, N.Y.), and senior
Sevilla Groebe (Gilbert, Ariz.) took first place, leaving the rest of the field in the dust with a time of 12:26.28.

Groebe turned in another strong performance in the 500m, finishing second with a personal record time of 1:19.34.

In the high jump, sophomore
Madison MacNeill (West Seneca, N.Y.) took third place with a score of 1.55m. Junior
Kelly Lucas (Fredonia, N.Y.) placed eleventh with a score of 1.40m.

Sophomore
Lily Schulz (Lockport, N.Y.) placed fifth and set a personal record in the 5000m with a time of 19:28.55.

Savage, MacNeill, Groebe, and
Lydia Smith combined to finish fifth in the 4x400m relay with a time of 4:17.78.

In the mile run, junior
Lexie Hillman (Alden, N.Y.) finished sixth with a time of 5:42.69, a new personal record.

In the 800m, sophomore
Barbara Kunza came in sixth with a personal record time of 2:37.68 and Hillman came in right behind her in seventh and also set a personal record with a time of 2:38.46.

Savage finished eighth in the long jump with a score of 5.05m.

Freshman
Tayden Persons (Sherman, N.Y.) placed fourteenth in a field of seventeen in the 400m with a time of 1:05.85.

In the 200m, freshman
Gabrielle Tripi (West Seneca, N.Y.) finished 21
st out of 34 runners with a personal record time of 28.05. Freshman
Taylor Bond (Rushman, N.Y.) also set a personal record and finished 29
th with a time of 29.89. Lucas came in 30
th with a time of 30.56.

D'Youville will now shift their focus to the outdoor season, with their first meet scheduled for March 29
th at Houghton University.
