Williamsville, NY – The D'Youville women's tennis team were bested by the visiting Penn State-Altoona Lions Saturday morning by the final score of 8-1.
Nicole Gilforte (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore East) was the lone winner for the Spartans, taking her match as the fifth singles player by the score of 3-6, 7-5, 10-8. Krista Cornell (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore East) also played well for D'Youville in the second singles slot, losing 6-4, 6-3.
Jessica Banning (Amherst, NY/Amherst) saw her first action as a singles player this season and played well.
The women will get a chance to bounce back, playing again tomorrow, Sunday September 20th at 10am against Mount Aloysius.
