SALEM, W.V. - Saints women's tennis lost a hard-fought match with Salem University on Friday, falling by a score of 4-3.

The Saints captured early momentum by securing the doubles point on courts one and two. Munisa Ashurbekova and Nele Herbst combined for the 6-3 victory at first doubles, while Erika Ismailova and Mina Randjelovic were able to capture a 6-4 victory at the number two spot, giving the Saints a 1-0 team advantage heading into singles play.

In singles action, Ashurbekova continued her strong day with a 7-5, 6-3 victory at the number one spot. Randjelovic won a hard fought match at number four singles by a score of 6-4, 6-2, adding to the Saints total. The match was ultimately decided on court three, as Erika Ismailova and Galia Mezouar battled to a tiebreak, with Mezouar narrowly taking the victory.

Salem was able to capture victories at numbers two, five and six to secure the 4-3 result.

Next up for the Saints, the road trip continues as they'll travel to Buckhannon, W.V. for a matchup with West Virginia Wesleyan College on Sunday, March 29th.
