BUFFALO, N.Y. – After coming off their best season in program history, the D'Youville University men's lacrosse team will look to build upon their momentum to take them to the next level.
"Our outlook for the season is a very optimistic one," said head coach
Jack Wilson. "We really feel like this is the year that we break through. We have a great nonconference schedule, and it leads us right into ECC play. We should be rounding into shape heading into April."
The Saints are coming off an overall record of 6-8 and a record of 2-4 in the East Coast Conference, finishing fifth in the conference. Heading into the new season, DYU was picked fifth in the 2026 ECC Preseason Coaches Polls, looking for their first ECC Championship Tournament bid.
D'Youvile returns 17 players from last year's roster including leader in points (52) and assists (22),
Stefano Evan, leader in groundballs (53) and caused turnovers (32),
Logan Schwartz, and lead goalie,
Casey Berns. DYU returns also returns two other top scorers from last season in
Obrigh Tallchief and
Brady Ruffalo.
The Saints also welcome 14 new faces to the team including 11 freshman and three transfers. DYU adds more experience to the team in
Frank Pagano and
Noah Suchyna, who have combined seen action in 23 collegiate games. D'Youville also brings in transfer
Raymond Cortes from St. Bonaventure University.
"Our biggest goal this year is to make it to the playoffs," said Wilson. "Be one of the top four team in the conference, win the conference championship, and take the next step in the NCAAs."
DYU will start the season this Friday at Assumption University. The Saints will be home for the first time on February 25th as they welcome Malone University.
