BUFFALO, N.Y. – The D'Youville University men's lacrosse team took part in Mercyhurst University's Lacrosse for Life-CORE Games this weekend, joining the lacrosse community in raising awareness for organ donation and the impact it can have on saving lives.
The event, hosted by Mercyhurst, brought together lacrosse programs for a weekend of competition and a shared commitment to supporting organ donation awareness. Beyond the opportunity to compete, the event provided student-athletes with a chance to learn more about organ donation and the importance of spreading awareness within their communities.
"We are thrilled to have been invited as a program by Mercyhurst to participate in their Lacrosse for Life-CORE Games this weekend!" said D'Youville head men's lacrosse coach
Jack Wilson. "Lacrosse is a special game and community that comes together as a family to support a variety of causes, and this is one of them."
Wilson emphasized the importance of the experience extending beyond the field, highlighting the opportunity for his team to become more informed and make a difference.
"I am looking forward to our young men getting out and competing, but most importantly learning more about the cause and what they can do to help support a life," Wilson said. "My hope is that our group walks away educated on the importance of being an organ donor and that they continue to spread that message as individuals and as a team in the community."
Through its participation in the Lacrosse for Life-CORE Games, D'Youville men's lacrosse demonstrated the power of sport to bring people together for a purpose greater than competition, reinforcing the importance of community involvement and making a lasting impact beyond the game.
