BUFFALO, N.Y. — D'Youville men's lacrosse fell to Roberts Wesleyan University with a final score of 16-8 on Saturday at Dobson Field.
D'Youville opened the first quarter with strong offensive momentum, as
Jake Bush scored the first goal at 14:09, quickly followed by a goal from
Noah Suchyna at 10:46.
Brady Ruffalo extended the lead with another goal at 3:10, putting D'Youville ahead 3-0. The Redhawks responded late in the quarter, with goals from Preston Steve at 1:41 and Colin Duncan at 0:42, closing the gap to 3-2 by the end of the quarter.
D'Youville capitalized on a key opportunity midway through the second quarter when Ruffalo found the net at 7:13, leveling the game. Despite RWU's efforts, including a goal by Isaac Marrero, D'Youville's
Graham Sholett responded with a goal at 1:15 to tie the score once again. The quarter ended with the teams deadlocked at 5-5.
D'Youville began the third quarter with a strong start as Ruffalo scored immediately after the faceoff win by
Darryl Cooper at the 14:31 mark. Despite this early momentum, the Redhawks quickly equalized with a goal from Nixon Karcz, leading to a series of successful possessions that shifted the game's dynamics.
RWU capitalized on multiple scoring opportunities, including two goals from Chase Wilson, which widened its lead. The quarter ended with RWU outscoring D'Youville 7-1, concluding the quarter with a score of 12-6 in favor of the visitors.
In the fourth quarter,
Carsyn Kent eventually broke through with a goal at 1:20, injecting momentum for D'Youville.
Shortly after, Suchyna scored with an assist from Bush, narrowing the gap. Despite these efforts, D'Youville was unable to close the deficit, and the game concluded with a 16-8 loss to the Redhawks.
Ruffalo led the scoring effort with three goals on seven shots on goal, demonstrating effective offensive execution. Suchyna added to the attack with two goals from five shots on target, contributing significantly to the team's performance.
