Box Score ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The D'Youville Men's Lacrosse team played their final regular season game on Friday night falling 18-10 to Roberts Wesleyan University.
Stefano Evan (Vestal, N.Y. / Vestal), Brady Ruffalo (Wesbter, N.Y. / Webster Schroeder), Nick Sholett (Vestal, N.Y. / Vestal), and
Obrigh Tallchief (Irving, N.Y. / Irving) all scored two goals apiece in the matchup with
Nick Sholett also recording three assists. On defense,
Logan Schwartz (Depew, N.Y. / Depew) led with five groundballs and three caused turnovers while
William Nichols (Palmyra, N.Y. / Palmyra-Macedon) recorded eight saves in goal.
How it Happened
The Roberts Wesleyan Redhawks got out to a fast start scoring the first five goals of the game in the first ten minutes of play.
Obrigh Tallchief put the Saints on the board with four and a half minutes left in the first quarter to bring the score to 5-1. The Redhawks would net one more to leave the score at 6-1 at the end of the first quarter.
The Redhawks carried their momentum into the second quarter quickly scoring two more goals to bring the score to 9-1.
Obrigh Tallchief stopped the Redhawks momentum netting his second of the day, but the Redhawks quickly answered with a goal of their own to bring the score to 10-2.
Stefano Evan put his hat in the ring as he scored next to bring the score to 10-3, but Roberts again answered with two more goals. Roberts would add one more goal before halftime, but so would the Saints very own
Carsyn Kent (Whitby, Ontario / Donald A. Wilson Secondary) to send the game to half with a score of 13-4 in the Redhawks favor.
Roberts netted two goals to begin the second half, but the D'Youville offense found its footing as they scored three in-a-row from Evan, Sholett, and Ruffalo to bring the score to 15-7. Roberts added two goals of their own, but
Suman Rumlall (Atlanta, Ga. / Grayson) put an end to the Roberts scoring in the third quarter as he netter a goal of his own.
Brady Ruffalo found the back of the net for his second of the day to bring the score to 17-9 at the end of the third quarter.
Nick Sholett started the scoring in the fourth quarter with a goal just under three minutes in. Roberts would answer one final time with a goal to bring the game to 18-10 as time ran out in the fourth giving the Redhawks the win over the Saints.
