Box Score CANTON, OH- The D'Youville University men's lacrosse team competed against the Pioneers of Malone University falling, 18-17 from King Field.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
FIRST QUARTER
- Pioneers wasted no time getting settled in the game as they scored the first four goals with two off man-up opportunities.
- The Saints retaliated with a 3-0 run produced by Ramlall, Engelhardt, and Sholett, 4-3.
- From that point on the Saints outscored MU, 3-2 with the quarter ending in a tie, 6-6.
SECOND QUARTER
- MU got things started in a similar fashion as they scored first but shortly after DYU responded with two Saint goals coming from Sholett and Evan, 8-7.
- At 5:02 the Pioneers got one in the back of the net that had the score all tied up momentarily until Evan scored which helped put the Saints back on top, 9-8.
- With under a minute left the Saints took advantage of their man-up opportunity resulting in two goals coming from Ruffalo and Evan that put DYU in front going into halftime, 11-9.
THIRD QUARTER
- DYU got off to a strong start burying three straight goals using 6:43 of the quarter, 14-9.
- The Pioneers took things up a notch going on a 7-0 run that didn't allow DYU to score for the remainder of the quarter, 16-14.
FOURTH QUARTER
- Lucas tried to will the Saints back into the game with the first goal score, 16-15.
- Shortly after at 10:13 Lucas recorded his second of the quarter getting DYU into reach by just one goal, 17-16.
- With 2:55 remaining the Pioneers tacked on their final goal ensuring their win that the Saints had no response for, 18-17.

The Saints have more action lined up on Sunday, Mar. 5 at 2:00 p.m. as they face the Cavaliers of Walsh University from Larry Staudt Field.
