Box Score BRIDGEPORT, CT- The D'Youville University men's lacrosse team went up against the Knights of Bridgeport University coming out victorious in the road contest from Knights Field, 18-14.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
FIRST QUARTER
- DYU got settled in the game early with Lucas finding the back of the net in under 30 seconds, 1-0.
- Ramlall got his shot off at 11:40 that positioned the Saints back into the lead after previously having things all tied up, 2-1.
- 3:17 belong to the Knights as they scored two back-to-back goals until at 5:16 Engelhardt put a stop to it by scoring off the man-up opportunity to even things up, 3-3.
SECOND QUARTER
- From the start it was a back-and-forth battle between the teams that resulted in numerous occasions where the score was tied.
- At 3:28 Engelhardt got the Saints in front with a goal that commenced a three-goal run being produced that lasted for the remainder of the quarter, 9-6.
THIRD QUARTER
- In the early going both teams scored a goal respectively in the first two minutes off man-up opportunities, 10-7.
- The Knights got to within two goals after their shot with 11:46 on the clock, 10-8.
- The Saints wanted to keep their lead comfortable and by doing that they buried three consecutive goals which gave DYU their largest lead of the contest of five goals, 13-8.
- BU retaliated by concluding the quarter with the last two goals, 13-10.
FOURTH QUARTER
- With 13:12 remaining DYU controlled 5:04 of the quarter tacking on back-to-back goals making their lead more assuring, 15-11.
- Shortly after the Knights found a way to create some momentum by scoring two goals that brought them back within two, 15-13.
- The Saints understood there was still work to be done as they recorded another three goals that awarded them a five-goal lead, 18-13.
- To cap things off the Knights scored the final goal of the game but wasn't enough as for the Saints earned themselves another win on the season, 18-14.
