Box Score BUFFALO, NY- The D'Youville University men's lacrosse team secured their first victory of the season against the Chargers of Dominican University from Dobson Field, 13-12.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
FIRST QUARTER
- The first four minutes belonged to the Saints as they scored two goals from Lucas and Evan, 2-0.
- Shortly after at 9:50 the Chargers secured their first goal off a man-up opportunity, 2-1.
- Reece Eck recorded an assist that set up Evan for the final goal of the quarter, 3-2.
SECOND QUARTER
- DYU got on the scoreboard first with a goal coming from Evan to get things started, 4-2.
- The Chargers responded with two goals of their own at 9:59 that allowed things to get all tied up, 4-4.
- Three more goals were scored by the Saints that positioned them to be up by three, 7-4.
- DU responded to the offensive efficiency of DYU by scoring a goal of their own, 7-5.
- The Saints finished the half on top with an assuring goal coming from Engelhardt, 8-5.
THIRD QUARTER
- The chargers came out with a bit more urgency by scoring the first two goals of the half, 8-7.
- Their efforts earned them three more goals by the 7:43 mark which ended up putting them up by one, 10-9.
- DYU didn't give in as Lucas buries one that got the game all tied up for the second time.
- DU scored at 4:28 which finished the scoring for the quarter with the lead now belonging to the Chargers, 11-10.
- Only three turnovers were committed by the Saints.
FOURTH QUARTER
- The Saints wanted to make their presence known in this quarter half and that started with the first goal scored by Engelhardt, 11-11.
- A quick Chargers goal had them in front for a moment until Ruffalo's goal at 5:32 got things all evened up on both sides, 12-12.
- The final goal scored came from the Saints Engelhardt which lead them to solidifying their first victory in program history, 13-12.
