HOUGHTON, N.Y. – The D'Youville University women's track and field team began their indoor season Friday night at the Houghton December Classic.
 
ECC preseason athlete of the year Rachael Zielinski dusted the rest of the field in the 3000m, taking home first place with a time of 11:22.80, winning by twelve seconds.
 
In the long jump, freshman Jenna Capolupo took first place with a score of 5.52 meters. Freshman Skylar Savage finished 15^th out of 30 with a score of 5.01m. Savage also took home eighth place in the triple jump with a score of 10.48m.
 
In the high jump, the Saints had two athletes finish in the top three, with freshman Madison Macneill placing second with a score of 1.52 cm and senior Lydia Smith coming in third with a score of 1.47 cm. Macneill also placed fifth in the 400m with a time of 1:08.46.
 
Capolupo placed second out of 41 runners in the 200m with a time of 26.82. Smith finished 22^nd with a time of 30.02 and sophomore Anastasiia Horova came in 24^th with a time of 30.28. In the 800m, Smith finished 11^th out of 23 runners with a time of 2:37.02.
