ERIE, PA – The D'Youville Women's Bowling Team competed in the first day of the Mercyhurst Invitational to open their season. The tournament consists of two-days of play, the first being traditionally scored matches and the second being baker's style. The Saints posted a pin total of 3,894 on the day.
The Saints five bowlers all competed in all five matches and 59 total bowlers competed in day one of the tournament.
Olivia Corbett (Dunkirk, N.Y./Dunkirk) finished in 17th.
Megan Kapsiak (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster Central) finished right behind her in 18th.
Mikayla Pasierb (Dunkirk, N.Y./Dunkirk) finished 21,
Summer Sega (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) finished 27
th, and
Haley Campanello (Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero North Syracuse) finished 39
th.
Highlights
- Olivia Corbett was the top performer for the Saints. Corbett had a team high 869 pins fall on the day. The Junior also bowled her best in game four with a 210.
- Megan Kapsiak was right behind Corbett with 854 pins fallen on the day. Kapsiak had her best game in game five with a 193.
- Mikayla Pasierb competed in all five matches as well bowling an average game of 166 with 830 total pins.
- Newcomer, Summer Sega had her best game in the third game bowling a 171 with an average game of 154.60.
- Haley Campanello began her career in day one of the invitational. Campanello bowled a 136 in game five, her best of the day and knocked down 568 total pins between the five games.
The Saints will return tomorrow to face-off with Wilmington, Mount Aloysius, and Daemen starting at 9:00 am in baker style play. D'Youville will also play a blind round at 12:00 pm where there is no direct opponent, but total pinfall is counted.
