Box Score BUFFALO, N.Y. – The D'Youville women's lacrosse team took away a dominating 19-8 win on senior day over East Coast Conference member Bridgeport Saturday afternoon. Riley Riedel paced the Saints offensively with five goals. Bethany Wolcott and Paige Cocina each added four goals, while Sydney Gordon and Marissa Malvaso had two. Malvaso recorded a team-high four assists. Brinn Stworzydlak was credited with 14 saves on 22 shots.
First Quarter Notables
- Mercy opened the scoring, converting a free position shot at 13:49.
- The Saints answered back as Gordon scored her first goal unassisted at 9:21.
- Riedel added another goal for the Saints less than three minutes later.
- The Saints tacked on three more goals in the first quarter, as Paige Cocina (3:18) and Bethany Wolcott (2:16 and 1:36) put their first goals in the stat sheet.
- The Saints led the way into the first break 5-1.
Second Quarter Notables
- Wolcott secured her hattrick as she scored an unassisted goal at 11:37.
- The Purple Knights added two quick goals to the scoreboard before Tiffany Cristofanelli scored her first goal on senior day at 9:39.
- The Saints added five more goals before Bridgeport was able to score at 3:51.
- D'Youville led the way 12-4 going into the intermission.
Third Quarter Notables
- Bridgeport came out of the break ready to mount the comeback, as Shyla Murray converted the free position shot at 13:42.
- Wolcott, Malvaso, and Cocina each added a goal to the scoreboard for the Saints to extend the lead to 15-5.
- Bridgeport's Murray scored her third goal of the day at 6:53 in the third quarter to ensure stoppage time on the clock and keep the Saints within reach.
- Malvaso and Riedel added two more goals for the Saints going into the final break, as they led 17-6.
Fourth Quarter Notables
- With a running clock, the Purple Knights struck first in the fourth quarter, as Addison Plume put one past Stworzydlak just a minute into action.
- Cocina added her fourth goal of the day at 11:44 and put the Saints up 18-7.
- Bridgeport's Murray was able to score one more goal to put the Purple Knights within 10, but Riedel scored her fifth goal of the game at 4:04 to secure the 19-8 win for the Saints.
