BUFFALO, N.Y. — A dominant offensive performance powered D'Youville to a 19-3 victory Tuesday evening at Dobson Field, fueled by standout efforts across the Saints' lineup. Madison Handley returned to the lineup after missing the past 3 games due to injury and charged the offense with six goals on 11 shots, consistently attacking the cage and setting the tone early. She scored twice in the opening quarter and added four more throughout the contest to anchor the Saints' high-powered offense.
Madison Buck delivered an all-around performance, finishing with five goals and five assists for a game-high 10 points. She factored into more than half of D'Youville's scoring, including multiple first-half assists that helped the Saints build a commanding lead. Danielle Gephart added three goals and one assist, including the game's opening tally, while Madison McGinn chipped in two goals. Sam Newlin contributed a goal and two assists, and Breelynn Lalonde found the back of the net on a fourth-quarter player-up opportunity for her first collegiate goal.
Ireland Costigan orchestrated the offense with five beautiful assists, helping facilitate scoring opportunities throughout the game. In the midfield, Addison Moore controlled possession with a team-high eight draw controls, while Lauren Parker added seven draw controls and capped the scoring with a goal in the final seconds. Defensively, the Saints limited Lake Erie to just six shots. Goalkeeper Kaylee Farias earned the win, making two saves while allowing just one goal in over 41 minutes of action before Sarah Reifsnyder closed out the game.
D'Youville jumped out to a 7-0 lead after the first quarter and extended it to 12-0 by halftime, never allowing Lake Erie to gain momentum.
The Saints finished with 19 goals on 39 shots and totaled 13 assists in a complete team performance on both ends of the field. The Lady Saints will now look upon this Saturday, April 11th, as they match up with Roberts for what might be a spot in the ECC playoffs. Luckily for the Saints, it will be a home contest as well as senior day for some D'Youville starters. First draw starts at 7:00pm.
