Sparkill, N.Y. — D'Youville delivered a dominant all-around performance on Saturday afternoon, rolling past St. Thomas Aquinas, 20–2, in ECC play at Spartan Field.
The Saints (3-4, 2-0 ECC) controlled the game from the opening draw and never looked back, jumping out to a 4-0 lead after the first quarter and erupting for eight goals in the second to take a commanding 12-1 advantage into halftime.
D'Youville's offense was firing on all cylinders, finishing with 20 goals on 37 shots, while holding St. Thomas Aquinas to just seven total shots in the game.
Leading the way was Madison Buck, who put together a historic performance with two goals and a program-record 10 assists, orchestrating the Saints' attack from start to finish. Buck factored into more than half of D'Youville's goals in the win.
Sam Newlin paced the scoring with five goals and one assist, including a man-down goal in the second quarter and a power-play strike in the fourth.
Madison Handley added four goals and one assist on a team-high 11 shots, while Danielle Gephart chipped in three goals and one assist.
Midfielder Lauren Parker controlled possession throughout, totaling three goals and a game-high 15 draw controls, helping D'Youville dominate the draw circle (20-5).
Ireland Costigan contributed across the board with one goal and three assists, while also picking up four ground balls.
Defensively, the Saints were just as impressive. D'Youville forced 22 turnovers and allowed only two goals, with goalkeeper Kaylee Farias making two saves in over 52 minutes of work before Sarah Reifsnyder closed out the final stretch.
After building a double-digit lead at the break, the Saints continued to apply pressure in the second half, adding four goals in both the third and fourth quarters to seal the decisive victory.
D'Youville also capitalized on special teams opportunities, scoring two man-up goals and two man-down goals.
The Saints will face a major test next as they travel to take on No. 3 University of Indianapolis on Sunday, March 29 at 11:00 a.m.
