Box Score BUFFALO, N.Y. – Tristan Engelhardt scored a team-high two goals, while Steve Lucas and Nick Sholett added a goal each; but the Saints ultimately fell 4-27 to Chestnut Hill in their home opener Wednesday night. Reece Eck and Zak DeCarolis split time in net, as they were credited with 10 and four saves, respectively.
First Quarter Notables
- D'Youville opened the scoring in the first minutes of action, as Engelhardt put one in the back of the net unassisted at 14:08.
- The Griffins even the score, as P.J. Spernal took advantage of a man-up opportunity in the 11th minute.
- The Griffins and Saints went back and forth over the next couple of minutes, each scoring a goal to keep it tied at 2-2 going into the final five minutes of the quarter.
- Chestnut Hill went on a scoring run in the final five minutes of action, scoring four goals before the final whistle of the quarter.
Second Quarter Notables
- Maurice Kelly from Chestnut Hill scored a quick goal coming out of the break, putting the Griffins up 7-2.
- Nick Sholett cut into the Griffins' lead, as Steve Lucas sent a perfect pass to the front of the net, where Sholett was waiting and sent the ball flying to the back of the net.
- The Griffins added 11 more goals in the second quarter to lead 18-3 going into the intermission.
Third Quarter Notables
- The Griffins scored three times coming out of the intermission before Lucas was able to add a goal of his own at 2:03.
Fourth Quarter Notables
- Chestnut Hill added six goals in the final quarter of the game to seal the 27-4 win.
