Second Half Goals Not Enough in Women's Lacrosse Loss to Medaille

Buffalo, NY – The D'Youville women's lacrosse team had a strong second half performance on Wednesday afternoon, falling to the Medaille Mavericks by the final score of 21-4.

Medaille was the better team on offense in the first half as they led 15-0 at halftime. The second half was a much closer game between the two teams. Amelia Gajewski (Amherst, NY/Sacred Heart Academy) scored her second goal of the season for the team's first goal of the game. The next three Spartan goals came from the stick of Jillian Golding (Lockport, NY/Lockport) as she increased her team lead. The final horn would sound and Medaille would beat D'Youville 21-4.

Golding led the team in goals, shots and shots on goal. Gajewski added an assist on one of Golding's goals and finished second in shots and shots on goal. She also led the team with three draw controls. Bailey Tay (Victor, NY/Victor) picked up her first career point with an assist on one of Golding's goals. Kiernan Johnson (Cherry Valley, IL/Keith School) led the team with two ground balls.

In goal, Megan Gawrys (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) was called upon often in the game. She made 15 saves after facing 36 shots.

The next game for the women comes on Saturday, March 25 at 2pm against Wells.
