NEWARK, Del. — D'Youville battled offensively but ultimately fell 22–7 to Wilmington (Del.) on Wednesday afternoon at the WU Athletics Complex.

The Saints showed early resilience after falling behind 4–0 in the opening quarter. Danielle Gephart got D'Youville on the board midway through the period, and the offense quickly followed with two power-play goals from Lauren Parker and Madison Buck to cut the deficit to 5–3 after the first.

D'Youville continued to generate chances in the second quarter. Madison Handley scored off an assist from Buck, while Buck later added her second goal of the game with help from Gephart. Sam Newlin also found the back of the net late in the period on a feed from Handley as the Saints entered halftime with six goals.

Despite several offensive opportunities, the Saints were held scoreless in the third quarter before Newlin added her second goal of the afternoon on a power play in the fourth.

Buck and Newlin led D'Youville with two goals apiece, while Gephart, Handley and Parker each added a goal. Ireland Costigan recorded two assists, while Buck, Gephart and Handley also contributed helpers.

Parker was a standout in the midfield, finishing with a game-high 18 draw controls while also scoring once. The total broke her own D'Youville single-game record for draw controls.

In net, Kaylee Farias played the full 60 minutes for the Saints and made seven saves.

With the loss, the Saints fall to 1–3 on the season. D'Youville returns to action Saturday when it opens East Coast Conference play at the University of the District of Columbia.
