Box Score Rochester, NY-D'Youville was victimized in the consolation game of the Harold J. Brodie/RIT Tournament by a career-high effort turned in by Manhattanville's Jack Bramswig . Bramswig scored 41 points and grabbed 17 rebounds leading the Valiants to an 88-70 win over D'Youville.
D'Youville was led by a team-high 19 points and 9 rebounds from newcomer Oliver Prince (Toronto, ONT/Jean Varnier HS). Prince was named to the All-Tournament team after a two-game total at the Brodie Tournament of 35 points, 17 rebounds, and 2 blocked shots. It was Prince's first two games in a DYC uniform.
For the second-time in as many games D'Youville started slow out of the gate. Tonight D'Youville trailed 11-2 after the first four minutes but this time rallied back with a 15-2 run of their own tying the game at 25-all with 6:39 to play in the first-half. The Spartans stayed hot and took a 34-29 lead with 4:18 to go before halftime. Manhattanville countered with a 14-3 run and took a 43-27 lead into the break. D'Youville closed to four points early in the second-half before the Valiants pulled away for the win.
Marcus Clarke (Olean, NY/Archbishop Walsh) and Kyle Clarke (Olean, NY/Olean) each scored 12 points off the bench for D'Youville. It was the second-straight game D'Youville got great production from the non-starters. Tonight the D'Youville bench outscored the Manhattanville reserves 40-16. Last night versus RIT, the D'Youville reserves scored a season-high 43 points.
The Spartans will break for the holidays and open the 2013 portion of the schedule with a non-conference home game January 2 versus Houghton College. Start time in the College Center Gym is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
