COLONIA, N.J. – It was another strong week for the Saints, earning three major weekly awards while also having eight named to the honor roll for the week of Mar. 30 – Apr. 5.
Lauren Parker, Women's Lacrosse – ECC Defensive Player of the Week
Parker was impactful on both ends of the field but highlighted by her control of the draw circle and defensive presence. The NCAA draw control leader, she recorded 12 and eight draw controls respectively, in two games this week. Both were game highs, including against #22 Saint Anslem. In addition to her draw success, Parker added four caused turnovers and two ground balls while also contributing offensively by hitting three goals in the 4th to complete a comeback and take the lead. Her ability to control possession and disrupt opposing offenses makes her the most impactful defensive player this week.
Kaylee Farias, Women's Lacrosse – ECC Goalie of the Week
Farias faced a high volume of shots in both games and remained a steady presence in net for the Saints. She played all 60 minutes of both games for the Saints this week. She recorded eight saves on 24 shots but played a pivotal role in the third quarter where she recorded six saves and gave up just one goal to keep D'Youville in the game. D'Youville would go on to complete a comeback and win. She also recorded five saves on 31 shots against #22 Saint Anslem. Despite the pressure, Farias continued to battle and provided crucial saves in important moments, demonstrating resilience and toughness against strong offensive teams in both games this week.
Jenna Capolupo, Women's Track & Field – ECC Field Athlete of the Week
Capolupo continues the strong start to the outdoor season for the Saints, having placed in the top-four in all four events competed in at the SUNY Geneseo Early Season Invitational. In the long jump, Capolupo placed first with an AARTFC-qualifying mark of 5.40 meters. On the track, Capolupo placed second in the 200-meter dash (25.68), another qualifying time. She added a fourth-place finish in the 400 meters (59.02), narrowly missing a third qualifying mark. Capolupo was also apart of the 4x100m relay that placed fourth with a time of 49.82, hitting the AARTFC qualifying standard.
Danielle Gephart, Women's Lacrosse – ECC Honor Roll
Gephart led the attack across both contests with consistent and efficient scoring. She tallied three goals on six shots (five on goal) against #22 Saint Anslem, converting multiple free-position opportunities, and followed it up with another multi-point performance against Saint Michael's, scoring the game-tying goal in the 4th quarter and recorded two assists.
Lily Schulz, Women's Track & Field – ECC Honor Roll
Competing in the SUNY Geneseo Early Season Invitational, Schulz turned in a first-place performance in the 10,000-meter race, finishing with a time of 40:47.48.
Jakob Denall, Baseball – ECC Honor Roll
Denall set a new season high in strikeouts with eight against Queens on Friday. The DYU sophomore tossed five full innings in the start, giving up only four hits and one earned, without allowing an extra base hit. Denall earned his second win of the season in the outing and secured DYU's lone win of the weekend.
Mihir Manerikar, Baseball – ECC Honor Roll
Manerikar gave up only four hits, and one earned while striking out three through 5.1 innings against Queens on Friday. Mihir faced 20 batters in his relief appearance, keeping the Saints in the contest by shutting down the Knights lineup, with the only run allowed coming on a solo homerun.
Logan Schwartz, Men's Lacrosse – ECC Honor Roll
Facing the No. 15 team in the country in Molloy University, Schwartz caused disruption in what the Lions wanted to do offensively, causing three turnovers while grabbing four groundballs.
Summer Clark, Softball – ECC Honor Roll
Clark was key in the Saints game one victory over the CSI Dolphins on Saturday. The Senior threw the complete seven inning game in the circle recording a shutout, striking out five batters and only allowing six hits and one walk in the win.
Kendal Lehnen, Softball, ECC Honor Roll
Lehnen had one of her best outings of the year in game two against CSI on Saturday. The Junior recorded a complete game shutout in the circle striking out four batters while only allowing six hits and no walks. This marks Lehnen's first shutout of the season to improve her record to 2-2.
Yelizaveta Prokopenko, Women's Tennis – ECC Honor Roll
Prokopenko secured her first ever collegiate win with a 0-6, 6-4 (12-10) comeback victory over Daemen's Danja Mehani. In her senior season, she was able to break through for a huge personal milestone by achieving the victory for her first collegiate win.
