Men's Basketball Clinches Postseason Berth; First Time in Division II Era

BUFFALO, N.Y. – It has been a historic season for the D'Youville University men's basketball team, earning their first postseason berth in the NCAA Division II era this season.

"Making the playoffs for the first time in the D2 era is a result of continued daily habits, a group that chose to believe in a shared vision, and embraced challenges," said head coach Andy Stark. "Since the beginning, the focus has been about building a program that is sustainable and taking that step into making the playoffs is a great step. This would not be possible without all the players that came before this group as well. I am grateful for all the current student athletes, staff, and former student athletes that worked tirelessly to continue to raise the standard."

Since Stark has arrived prior to the start of the 2022-23 season, the team has seen a steady incline in performance both within the conference and overall performance. Coach Stark took over a program that won two games it's previous season, one of which was in conference. Since then, the men's basketball team has seen their win totals increase both within the conference, and overall.

Currently, the team sits fifth in the conference with a record of 7-8 and one game back on Molloy University. With a win on Saturday and a loss for Molloy, the Saints would remain the No. 5 seed in the tournament as the Lions have the head-to-head tiebreaker.

This will be the first postseason the Saints have made since the 2018-19 season when they were also the No. 5 seed in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championship Tournament. In their game, D'Youville fell to Mt. Aloysius by a score of 72-57.
