Box Score ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – On the road for a two-game road trip, the D'Youville University women's lacrosse team fell to No. 24 Dominican University of New York Thursday afternoon by a score of 22-5.
The Saints (4-7) were led offensively by
Madison Buck (Rochester, N.Y./Churchville Chili) with three points (1 goal, 2 assists) with
Madison Handley (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster) adding a pair of goals.
Sophia Conzone (Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse Minoa) got things started in the circle, leading the way with six draw controls.
DYU got on the board first with Handley scoring five minutes into the contest. The Chargers scored three straight to make it 3-1 before Buck got on the board with 7:18 left in the first quarter. From there, Dominican scored four straight to take the 7-2 lead after one quarter of action. The Chargers carried over that momentum into the second quarter, scoring four unanswered to make it 11-2. Handley halted the run with a goal off the feed from Buck to make it 11-3. Dominican scored the last three goals of the half to take the 14-3 lead into the half.
Coming out of the break, the Chargers scored a pair of goals before
Ilyan Fowler (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) got in the scoring column. Dominican scored one more before going into the fourth quarter. The Chargers scored five more in the fourth before Sydney Buck (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) scored on the dish from Buck.
Brinn Stworzydlak (Hamburg, N.Y./Frontier) went the distance in net, making 16 saves.
The Saints will be back in action this Saturday, April 19th, as they travel to Molloy University for a 12p.m. start.
