BUFFALO, N.Y. – With the conference championships in the rearview, the D'Youville University women's cross country team will now turn their focus on the 2025 NCAA East Regional Championships this Saturday in Hopkinton, N.H.
"We outperformed our preseason ranking within the conference, which is a testament to their hard work this season," said head coach
Brendan McMaster. "We have the opportunity to accomplish something we have never done on any level. Our women's team looks fast and will be in position to place third at regionals and qualify for nationals. I'm excited to see them run and show what they are capable of."
The Saints are coming off a third-place finish at the East Cost Conference Championships, tied for their highest placing as a team at the meet.
Lilianna Peters and
Lily Schulz lead the way for the Saints, both earning All-East Coast Conference honor for their performances. Peters finished with a time of 19:47.1 to place nineth while Schulz finished with a time of 19:52.9 to place 11th in the field of 72.
The regional championships is a whole other challenge in its own, being a 6k race where the conference championship was an 5k race. With the longer distance, coach McMaster has had his team training for these kinds of races all season.
"Every workout has been meant for a 6k," McMaster said. "We do not train for regular season meets. We have utilized regular season meets for training as the only ones that matter in cross country are the championship meets."
Our men are exceptional in their work ethic, determination, and their personalities guide the culture," McMaster added. "They deserve ant PR, improvement in place, or awards that may come this weekend."
The men will get started at 10 a.m. You can get all the meet details by clicking here.
