COLONIA, N.J. – Four D'Youville University student-athletes have earned ECC weekly recognition for the week of Sept. 29 – Oct. 5.
Florentina Schmidt, Women's Tennis – ECC Rookie of the Week
In singles, newcomer
Florentina Schmidt was able to pick up a huge 6-1, 6-0 victory on Friday vs. Daemen University. She and
Mina Randjelovic were also able to secure the doubles point for D'Youville, taking their match by a score of 6-1. Schmidt wasn't able to secure a victory at the ITA's, but showed resilience in a huge bounce-back performance for the Saints, securing the victory over Daemen.
Munisa Ashurbekova, Women's Tennis – ECC Honor Roll
Munisa Ashurbekova was crucial in pulling out the 7-0 victory over Daemen on Friday. After taking her doubles match 6-4, helping secure the point for D'Youville, Munisa was able to carry her momentum into singles play, winning by a score of 6-4, 6-3 at #1 singles. She anchors this team as a junior coming off back-to-back conference titles at her previous institution. This is her first dual match singles victory for the Saints, and is a sign of things to come from the Saints' top singles spot.
Cameron Ulinksi, Women's Volleyball – ECC Honor Roll
Outside hitter
Cameron Ulinski had a standout week on both sides of the ball for D'Youville. Ulinski totaled 29 kills and 31 digs across two matches, including a dominant all-around performance in the five-set thriller against American International, where she notched 16 kills, 20 digs, and three aces. She added 13 kills and 11 digs in the midweek match at Daemen, continuing to be the Saints' spark on offense while anchoring serve receive and back-row defense and playing the full match in both matches.
Megan Kapsiak, Women's Bowling - ECC Honor Roll
Kapsiak, an individual bowler, secured the 8th position in the Mercyhurst Invitational, which featured 52 bowlers. Notably, she achieved her best game of 230 in the first game.
