FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Heading on the road for a pair of duals, the D'Youville University women's wrestling team split at the Sacred Heart Tri-Meet.
In their first dual of the day, the Saints (5-8) handled New England College by a score of 33-9. After falling behind early after the first three bouts, the Saints cruised to a victory, winning the last seven matches.
Alexis Brua (New Castle, Pa/Laurel) got DYU on the board, getting the fall in 2:19.
Madison Wellen (East Berlin, Pa./Wyoming Secondary) continued their momentum, getting the 10-0 tech. fall. After a forfeit win by
Alessandra Elliott (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville),
Saniyah Ward (The Colony, Texas/The Colony) earned a tech. fall victory at the 145 pounds. After that bout, the Saints cruised through the next three bouts, winning each by forfeit.
In the team's dual against No. T15 Sacred Heart University, D'Youville fell by a score of 41-7. In the dual, Elliott was the lone victory, earning a win by medical forfeit.
The Saints will take a brief hiatus and will next be in action on Friday, January 31st, as they travel to Western New England University for a 4 p.m. dual
