D'Youville Women's Wrestling Joins PSAC as Associate Member Beginning in 2026-27

LOCKHAVEN, Pa. – D'Youville University athletics has announced that women's wrestling will become an associate member of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference at the beginning of the 2026-27 academic year. This announcement comes as the PSAC has announced the addition of women's wrestling as the conference's 24th championship sport.

"Pennsylvania and wrestling are synonymous together, so adding women's wrestling to our championships menu makes perfect sense," said Steve Murray, PSAC Commissioner. "There are 271 high school women's wrestling programs in PA and the number is growing fast at the collegiate ranks as well. Our five members sponsoring women's wrestling will be bolstered by the additions of Felician, D'Youville, and eventually Lackawanna College when they join the PSAC full-time in the near future. We will have a solid foundation as a Division II-only women's wrestling conference. It's a great addition for us."

The PSAC women's wrestling will be comprised of seven teams in total including East Stroudsburg, Edinboro, Gannon, Lock Haven, Pitt-Johnstown, and Felician. Teams will compete in a round-robin dual meet schedule, and the team with the best record will be named Dual Meet Champions.

Women's wrestling will also join the PSAC's awards program, with annual honorees earning Athlete of the Year, Freshman of the Year, and Coach of the Year awards. All-Conference Teams will also be named at the conclusion of each season.

"We are incredibly excited to join the PSAC and provide our women's wrestlers with the opportunity to compete for a conference championship for the first time in program history," said Ona Halladay, Vice President for Athletics and Planning. "I want to thank the PSAC membership and Commissioner Steve Murray for their commitment to growing women's wrestling and for welcoming D'Youville into the conference. This is an important step forward for our program and for the continued growth of the sport."

After their third season of competition, the Saints are coming off a year going 4-3 in dual competition, placing fifth in the NCAA Regional Qualifier, and sending two wrestlers to the inaugural NCAA Women's Wrestling Championships. In total, D'Youville has had 12 national qualifiers including five in each of the first two years of the program, qualifying for the National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships.

"We are excited to be part of the PSAC conference for the 2026-27 season," said head women's wrestling coach, Carlene Sluberski. "We will now have the opportunity to compete for a conference championship in a way that highlights our sport through a series of duals. This will add more depth to our wrestling season while helping us to better showcase our sport."

The NCAA approved women's wrestling as its 91st championship sport back in January of 2025 and held the first NCAA Championship in March of 2026, featuring competitors from all three NCAA divisions.
