BUFFALO, N.Y. – Will the new season upon us, the D'Youville University women's lacrosse team will open up the 2024 campaign with a pair of home contests this Saturday and Sunday.

About the Saints
The Saints enter the year as preseason No. 4 in the ECC Coaches Polls after reaching the ECC Semifinals and finishing with a record of 8-10 a year ago.
DYU will return four players that earned honors including ECC Goalkeeper of the Year and ECC First Team selection,
Brinn Stworyzdlak (Hamburg, N.Y.). Stworyzdlak started all 18 games in net for the Saints, making 188 saves with a save percentage of .480. Stworyzdlak was a two-time ECC Defensive Player of the Week honoree while having a season-high 23 saves in the team's game against Slippery Rock University.
The Saints will also return ECC Rookie of the Year and ECC Second Team selection,
Sam Newlin (Austin, Texas). Newlin had a stellar season for DYU, starting in all 18 games while scoring 54 goals and assisting on seven others. Newlin also had 57 draw controls in her freshman campaign.
Rounding out the top performers from a year ago are
Sydney Gordon (Hamburg, N.Y.) and
Lauren Parker (Syracuse, N.Y.), both being named to the ECC Second Team. Gordon started in all 18 games, finishing with 43 goals, 16 assists, and 32 draw controls. Parker started in all 18 games, coming away with 38 groundballs and 37 draw controls.
About the Eagles
- Post is coming off a 5-11 overall record and a 4-6 record in the CACC, picked seventh in the preseason coaches poll.
- Cara DiStefano is the leading point getter that is returning from a season ago, scoring 31 goals while adding 10 assists.
- DiStefano was also the leader in draw controls won, winning 80 draw controls.
- Lauren Bain returns in the net, seeing action in nine games where she made 31 saves on 109 shots faced.
- The Saints are 1-0 in the all-time series, winning their first match up last season by a score of 18-11.
About the Chargers
- Prior to playing DYU, Dominican will face Daemen University Saturday afternoon.
- The Chargers finished last season with an overall record of 17-2 and 9-1 in the CACC and are picked first in the preseason coaches poll for the 2024 season.
- Caitlin Costello is the top returning point scorer for Dominican with 134 points, scoring 48 goals while assisting on 86 goals.
- Erica Ortiz was the leading draw control winner last season, winning 123 draw controls.
- Kristinamarie Kaszovitz returns in the net for the Chargers, going 17-2 and making 94 saves.
- Dominican holds the all-time series lead at 2-0, winning the team's last matchup last year by a score of 17-4.
