Box Score DOBBS FERRY, NY- D'Youville University women's lacrosse was up against conference foes in the Mavericks of Mercy College in the East Coast Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship Semifinal game, unfortunately, did not go in favor of the Saints, 19-5 from Mercy Field.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Sydney Gordon led the Saints in goals with two while Sam Newlin, Madison Buck, and Madison Handley recorded one goal respectively, and Danielle Thompson had an assist.
FIRST QUARTER
- Quick starts were produced for both teams with neither side showing any give but Gordon looked to change that for the Saints at 4:07 making the of her free position shot putting DYU ahead, 2-1.
- Everything came to a standstill again at 2:42 but the Mavericks had the upper hand in this one scoring the last goal in the quarter placing them out in front, 3-2.
SECOND QUARTER
- DYU got themselves back into the midst of things with back-to-back goals from Gordon and Newlin bringing them within one, 5-4.
- The rest of the quarter belonged to MER as they went on a 7-0 run that the Saints had no solution for going into the half, 11-4.
THIRD QUARTER
- Mavericks made their presence felt providing stout defensive play that led to no DYU goals to be scored for the quarter while having an offensive showing that managed to record four consecutive goals, 15-4.
FOURTH QUARTER
- After the free position shot goal from MER at 12:50, then shortly after Buck responded back for the Saints putting one into the back of the net herself, 16-5.
- That didn't stop the Mavericks from their onslaught as they produced a 3-0 run that helped solidify a win to advance in the ECC Women's Lacrosse Championship, 19-5.
