Box Score DUBOIS, Pa. — The 8-seeded D'Youville University baseball team used a six-run second inning to defeat 5-seeded Bryant & Stratton – Albany, 11-6, on Tuesday to stave off elimination in the loser's bracket of the USCAA National Championships.
FINAL: DYU 11, B&SC 6
- Back-to-back one-out doubles by Craig Oliver and Blaise Kolbert put DYU ahead 3-0 in the third.
- After the second hit batter of the inning and a sacrifice bunt, Hunter Nowak drove in another run before Billy Morris' 2-run single capped off the six-spot second inning.
- A solo shot by B&SC got one back in the bottom of the frame.
- The Saints got the run right back in the third on a Kolbert sacrifice fly to center, DYU 7-1.
- This time B&SC hung the crooked number as a two-out double was followed by back-to-back home runs to cut the margin to three, 7-4 DYU after three.
- Morris led off the fifth with his third home run of the tournament before a Dillon Crook bases-loaded walk stretched the score to 9-4 Saints.
- Alex Dzimian added a sacrifice fly later in the inning to push the advantage back to six, 10-4.
- B&SC chipped away at the deficit with a 2-run jack to right-center in the sixth, DYU 10-6.
- Another Dzimian sacrifice fly in the seventh, once again scoring Oliver, added an insurance run before Samuel Worthen closed out the game in the bottom half of the inning.
