Box Score BUFFALO, NY — The D'Youville University baseball team cut a 3-0 deficit to 3-2 after six innings of play but errors proved costly on Saturday as they fell to the Mercy College Mavericks in game four of the weekend series, 7-3.
How It Happened: MER 7, DYU 3
- MER had two runners in scoring position after a one-out DYU error in the fifth.
- After another Saints' three-base error on a would-be sacrifice fly, MER took a 2-0 lead with another runner on third.
- Two batters later, MER brought him home via a sacrifice fly to hold a 3-0 advantage after 4 ½.
- DYU answered an inning later after a leadoff single by Hunter Nowak. With two outs, back-to-back hits by Jeremy Glinski and Jon Simpson trimmed the deficit to one, 3-2.
- MER hung a crooked number up in the seventh thanks in part to three 2-out hits to open up some breathing room at 7-2.
- The Saints got one back in the ninth off a John Rogowski, Jr. double, but the next DYU hitter flew out to end the game.
