Box Score BUFFALO, NY- The D'Youville University women's lacrosse team went up against the Wildcats of Daemen University in a hard-fought matchup that the Saints managed to emerge victorious in, 13-10 from Dobson Field.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
FIRST QUARTER
- The first 9:15 was an uphill battle between both teams until at 6:01 Handley scored that put DYU out in front with her goal, 3-2.
- From there on the Saints tacked on an additional two goals before the quarter was concluded, 5-2.
SECOND QUARTER
- Saints took the reigns in this one recording a 4-0 run that resulted in no DAE goals to be scored throughout the entire quarter that gave the Saints a seven-goal lead the largest of the game thus far going into the half, 9-2.
THIRD QUARTER
- This was the turning point in the game as the Wildcats were able to develop their rhythm as they scored back-to-back goals shortening the gap in the lead, 10-4.
- At 9:34 Newlin scored the last Saints goal, 11-4.
- DAE controlled the remainder of the quarter recording three goals, 11-7.
FOURTH QUARTER
- The scoring efforts for the Saints diminished in the quarter as they were outscored, 3-2.
- After the final goal scored at 6:43 by the Wildcats left the DYU defense with no choice but to stand stout until the quarter was over.
- Wasn't enough to damper the plans of the Saints as they still came out on top by the end, earning themselves another win within the East Coast Conference, 13-10.
