Box Score SLIPPERY ROCK, PA- The D'Youville University women's lacrosse team competed against the Rocks of Slippery Rock University falling, 11-4 from Mihalik-Thompson Stadium Complex.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
FIRST QUARTER
- The Rocks got out to an early start controlling the majority of the quarter scoring the first three consecutive goals that gave them the three-goal lead.
- At 3:59 Newlin found a way to get the Saints on the board to relieve them of their drought, 3-1.
- SRU wrapped up the quarter with the final goal scored at 1:06, 4-1.
SECOND QUARTER
- This quarter had SRU written all over it not allowing a single DYU goal to be scored.
- Stworzydlak stood out making seven saves.
- Concluding the quarter resulted in the Rocks leading going into the half, 8-1.
THIRD QUARTER
- Saints came out with a sense of urgency by scoring the first goal coming from Handley, 8-2.
- Gordan and Newlin also contributed in the efforts to pave a way back into the game scoring the two final goals of the quarter, 9-4.
- DYU outscored the Rocks in this one, 3-1.
FOURTH QUARTER
- SRU continued to bring the pressure as they produced another scoreless quarter for the Saints.
- Their momentum was unfazed as they were able to score an additional two goals that put the stamp on the game for the evening, 11-4.
