Box Score ERIE, PA- The D'Youville University women's lacrosse team came out on top against the Golden Knights of Gannon University, 14-12 from Mercyhurst Soccer Field.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
FIRST QUARTER
- The game was at a standstill, 1-1 then was broken by a goal from Gordon at 10:40 that birthed a 4-0 run, 5-1.
- GU only managed to score one more goal to finish the quarter as DYU scored two goals helping their lead, 7-3.
SECOND QUARTER
- Golden Knights came out with the first goal of the quarter hoping that the momentum can shift in their favor, 7-4.
- Didn't prove to phase the Saints as they produced two goals of their own and a hold on the lead going into the half, 9-4.
THIRD QUARTER
- The Saints scoring was drastically slowed down by the pace that the Golden Knights presented in this quarter only allowing three DYU goals.
- Golden Knights found a sense of urgency in outscoring the Saints, 5-3 which helped them try to climb their way back into the game, 12-9.
FOURTH QUARTER
- At 14:10 GU found themselves in a free position shot scenario that they made the most of putting one in the back of the net that had them down by as much as two goals, 12-10.
- Newlin's man-up opportunity was successful in finding the net for the score, 13-10.
- 3:20 belonged to the Golden Knights as they scored back-to-back goals that brought the deficit in by just one goal, 13-12.
- Gordon in the final seconds of the game scored a solidifying goal that secured the Saints their victory on the road, 14-12.
