Box Score BUFFALO, NY- The D'Youville university women's lacrosse team claimed themselves another win on the season against the Firebirds of the University of the District of Columbia in conference play, 18-3 from Dobson Field.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
The Saints were led by standouts Sydney Gordon who finished with four goals and two assists, Sam Newlin recorded four goals and an assist, Madison Handley gathered four goals, Madison Buck had eyes everywhere on the field as she wrapped up with five assists, Jilian Bernas tacked on two goals, Danielle Gephart had one goal and two assists, Danielle Thompson, Grace Grosso, and Emily Fischer had one goal respectively.
FIRST QUARTER
- DYU didn't need much time to get acquainted in the game as they scored the first four goals of the game by the 4:49 mark.
- Shortly after the Firebirds found a way to get one in the back of the net that stop the run of the Saints, 4-1.
- In the final seconds Newlin took things into her own hands as she scored the final goal of the quarter, 5-1.
SECOND QUARTER
- 3:19 went by with neither side able to find the back of the net until at 12:11 UDC got on the board first in hopes to get their offense going, 2-5.
- From that point on DYU went on a run of six goals that the Firebirds had no response to what the Saints presented that left them unable to score for the remainder, 11-2 placing DYU ahead of UDC going into the half.
THIRD QUARTER
- The Saints ate a majority of the clock up in this quarter as they utilized 9:37 of time scoring two goals within that time frame.
- UDC found a way to stop the bleeding at 6:02 scoring a Firebird goal, 13-3.
- DYU wanted to keep their momentum going in the final minutes as they scored an additional two goals, 15-3.
FOURTH QUARTER
- This quarter had the Saints name written all over it as they allowed zero UDC goals to be scored
- Buried three goals that solidified their win against the Firebirds, 18-3
