BUFFALO, NY- The D'Youville University women's lacrosse team went up against the visiting Hawks of Saint Anselm College falling, 17-6 from Dobson Field.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
FIRST QUARTER
- The Hawks decided on a fast pace approach to start that positioned their team ahead of the Saints going on a five-goal run with 8:38 remaining.
- Bernas got the Saints settled down by putting the ball in the back of the net at 7:33, 5-1.
- Two more goals from the Hawks found their way into the net before wrapping up the quarter, 7-1.
SECOND QUARTER
- DYU began the quarter strong only allowing one goal for SAC in the first 6:23 until at 9:17 Madison Handley scored off an assist from Buck, 8-2.
- The scoring onslaught committed by the Hawks continued throughout the quarter as they scored an additional five goals, 13-2.
THIRD QUARTER
- The Saints defense proved to be efficient in stopping SAC's offense with the Hawks only able to score twice in the quarter.
- DYU produced four completed clears out of the six attempted.
- In the last three minutes Bernas created a goal for herself adding another one to her total for the morning, 15-3.
FOURTH QUARTER
- Buck got the Saints on the board with the first goal of the quarter, 15-4.
- The Hawks ripped two more shots into the back of the net with 9:17 left on the clock, 17-4.
- DYU utilized the time remaining with two goals scored by Buck and Sam Newlin to conclude the game, 17-6.
