Box Score GLENVILLE, WV. - The D'Youville University baseball team began its' first weekend road trip of the season with a tough task against the #8 West Chester University Golden Rams on Friday evening.
It was a pitcher's duel for the first five innings before WCU used a pair of runs in the sixth and seventh innings to open up a 5-0 advantage on its way to a 5-1 win.
How It Happened:
- The Golden Rams got on the board first in the third with three consecutive singles to start the frame.
- WCU used a one-out single with runners on second and third in the sixth to plate two more runs, pushing its' lead to 3-0.
- WCU plated an unearned run after a HBP to begin the seventh was followed by a two base error.
- Another fielder's choice, this time with two outs, brought home another insurance run in the inning, WCU 5-0 heading to the bottom of the seventh.
- Ethan Hammond singled to lead off the bottom half before a Jeremy Glinski double put the Saints in business.
- Alec Boucher stepped in next and did his job with a sac fly to CF but WCU went to the bullpen to retire the next two Saints' hitters.
- DYU would go down in order in the eighth before only a one out walk by Hammond in the ninth threatened the Golden Rams.
