Box Score ERIE, Pa. - The D'Youville University baseball team opened the season in Erie, Pa. against Mercyhurst on Wednesday afternoon. Mercyhurst is ranked No. 7 in the Atlantic Region by the NCBWA and took the game by a 5-2 margin.
How It Happened:

The game was 0-0 going into the bottom of the second when Mercyhurst hit a solo home run to take a 1-0 lead.

In the top of the third, Alec Boucher doubled, followed by a Billy Morris double to plate Boucher, making it a 1-1 game.

Action did not occur again until the top of the fifth when Boucher singled and Morris walked to begin the frame, allowing the Saints to go ahead 2-1.

Mercyhurst answered back in the bottom half with a one-out RBI single to left, tying up the game at 2-2.
- After a leadoff single by Mercyhurst to start the seventh, DYU made a pitching change and retired the next two batters before a two-out, two-run HR broke the tie, 4-2.

The Lakers added an insurance run in the eighth to cap off the 5-2 win.
