Box Score DUBOIS, PA. - Facing elimination, the D'Youville badeball team jumped out to an early 2-0 lead Tuesday afternoon but were not able to protect that advantage, falling to Bucks County Community College, 12-2, to end the 2022 season in the USCAA Small College World Series. Despite ending on a disappointing note, the 2022 campaign was the most successful season in D'Youville baseball history as the Saints won a program-record 14 games, including their first victories over NCAA Division II and East Coast Conference competition.
GAME NOTES
Sophomore Ethan Hammond got the Saints on the board in the bottom of the first inning with a sacrifice fly ball to center field that drove in sophomore Alex Dzimian. Later in the frame, sophomore Jeremy Glinski stole second and when the throw skipped into center field, senior George Farid was able to score from third base to double D'Youville's advantage.
The Saints were done in by a nine-run third inning from the Bucks County and the Centurions added three more in top of the fifth inning.
ON THE MOUND
Freshman Harrison Lough got the starting nod in the season finale, tossing 2.2 innings and striking out five batters ... Senior Noah Welch, freshman Samuel Worthen, and freshman Rob Stephens each featured in relief roles for the Saints.
