BUFFALO, N.Y. - The D'Youville University women's soccer team plays on Saturday Oct. 8, in an afternoon match against Indiana University Pennsylvania at Dobson Field. Kickoff is at 12:30 p.m.
OPENING NOTES
I. The Saints are coming off a 1-1 tie in Salem, West Virginia, against Salem University.
II. Eleonora Ceccini led the Saints in Salem making two shots, with one scoring the teams goal in the second half.
III. Camdyn Cross and Cierra Barber split the time in net, both spending 45 minutes in goal.
IV. Lily Gallagher was able to get three shots off, putting two on net. Jeslyn-Brooke Vallesteros was able to get two shots on net. Finally, Lauren Zwolenkiewicz was able to make one shot.
V. Jillian Bernas and Gallagher have each scored a goal for the Saints this season. They are both tied for second on the team in points.
VI. IUP is 2-4-4 on the season, coming off a 1-2 loss to California (Pa.).
VII. Head coach Abby Pearson is in her second season at the head of the program. Last year, the Saints went 7-10-2 overall, earning their first win over an NCAA Division II opponent, St. Thomas Aquinas. Joining Pearson on the sidelines are Kyle Cunningham, Corey Nash, Marina Cunningham, and Hannah Gallivan.
VIII. Three Saints earned USCAA All-America honors last season. Returning from the group is Maggie Leads who led the team with seven goals.
IX. Pearson is welcoming 12 incoming student-athletes to the squad this year, including transfers Tsianna Barnwell and Duval. Barnwell joins the Saints after a four-year stint at NCAA Division I St. Bonaventure.
