BUFFALO, N.Y. – The D'Youville women's bowling team finished third at the Medaille Brunswick Invitational. Roberts Wesleyan won the tournament.
In bracket play on Saturday, the fourth-seeded Saints fell to top seed Medaille in the first round before defeating number two seed Mercyhurst in round two to grab the third-place finish.
Against Medaille, the Saints lost 962-939, in the baker match. D'Youville won convincingly against Mercyhurst in round two by a final score of 1,024-931.
The first three matches on Sunday were baker games to determine seeds for bracket play later in the day.
D'Youville went 2-1 over the three matches to improve to 4-4 and move up to fourth based on pinfall before moving into bracket play.
In the first baker match, D'Youville topped Daemen 1,008-809. Olivia Corbett paced the Saints with a 236 against the Wildcats. Alyssa Mankowski got into the 200s with a 212 of her own. No Saint was below 180 versus the Wildcats.
Walsh was the opponent in match two. D'Youville came away with a 933-891 win. Emily Williams knocked 219 pins to lead the Saints.
Medaille was waiting in match three and handed the Saints their first loss of the day. The Mavericks topped the Saints 981-849. Williams once again paced the Saints with a 208 this time.

The hosts Medaille sit on top of the standings with a 4-1 record. The Mavericks were the lone team to win four matches.
The sixth-place Saints (4,237) are only 59 pins behind fourth-place Daemen (4,296).
Pitt-Bradford was the first opponent of the day for D'Youville. The Saints fell to the Panthers, 868-817. In match two, the Saints squeaked past the Redhawks of Roberts Wesleyan 850-847. Emmaile Rome was the leader for the Saints with a 202.
Mercyhurst, who sits in second in pinfall (4,728), cruised past D'Youville, 1,006-833. Match four saw the Saints pick up their second win of the day against Penn State-Behrend, 813-684. In the win, Makayla Pasierb (195) was the leader for D'Youville. The day's final match saw the Saints fall in the 10th frame to Medaille, 955-924. Against Medaille, Emily Williams rolled a 223 in her only match of the day.
Pasierb was the top individual for the Saints on Saturday. The first-year Saint was 12th in pinfall average (183). Rome was 15th with an average of 179.8.
The eight teams are back in action tomorrow for the second and final day of the Medaille Brunswick Invitational.
