ERIE, Pa. – The D'Youville women's bowling team finished the first day of the 2021 Grapevine Classic 2-2 over four traditional matches. The Saints sit in fourth place in the standings based on pinfall with an average of 160.3.
The Saints started the day with an 804-722 win over LaRoche. Emmalie Rome rolled a 187, and Olivia Corbett knocked down 185 pins to help D'Youville win.
Matches two and three were losses for the Saints. D'Youville fell to Walsh 781-706 and Mercyhurst 806-760.
D'Youville got back in the win column in the final match of the day. The Saints took down Penn St. Behrend, 878-715. Corbett knocked 201 pins for the Saints. Not to be outdone was Rome, who rolled a 207. Rachel Blose added a 191 for the Saints.
The Saints had a bye in the schedule, and they rolled an 860. Seven teams are competing this weekend.
For the day, Corbett led the Saints in average and finished ninth overall with 174.2. Blose was 11th in average at 172.8. Rome snuck into the top 15 in 15th with a 163.8 average over five games.
The Saints and the other six teams return to action tomorrow for the final day of the weekend tournament.
