Women's Soccer Remains Top-Three in AMCC After Game of the Week

Box Score

Buffalo, NY – The D'Youville women's soccer team went toe-to-toe with the Mount Aloysius Mounties on Saturday afternoon, falling in the AMCC Game of the Week by the final score of 1-0.

Brittany Cristofanelli (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) nearly gave the Spartans a 1-0 shortly after the opening whistle as she had a dangerous shot on net just 2:13 into the game. After the initial attack from D'Youville, the Mounties would go on the offensive. They controlled the ball for most of the first half, but neither team would find goal as the first 45 minutes would end with the teams tied 0-0.

Mount Aloysius challenged the Spartan's defense to begin the second half with goalkeeper Megan Dulniak (Cheektowaga, NY/Cheektowaga) making four big saves in a matter of 4:06. D'Youville continue to hold strong on defense until the 62nd minute when a free kick outside the Spartan's box resulted in a goal for the Mounties, making the score 1-0.

D'Youville continued to fight hard against the undefeated Mounties, but their defense was strong. The final horn would signal the end of the game with the Spartans as they fell to Mount Aloysius by the final score of 1-0.

Dulniak made 15 saves in the loss for the women on the day she set the all-time games played record for the women. Cristofanelli led the team with two shots while Katelyn Eigenbrod (Arcade, NY/Pioneer) recorded one.

Prior to the game, the three seniors of Dulniak, Magan Magee (Ellenburg Center, NY/Northern Adirondack), and Jennifer Hoffman (Perrysburg, OH/St. Ursula Academy) were honored. Dulniak is one of the most accomplished players in program history with multiple records such as saves, shutouts, games played, and games started. Magee is one of the most versatile players the program has ever seen with career marks inside the top-10 of games played, goals, and points. As for Hoffman, she has been an effective goal scorer in her three years with the team.

The next game for the women will be their final non-conference game of the season as they host Alfred University on Wednesday evening at 7:00pm.
