Erie, PA - The D'Youville women's soccer team was shutout by the Penn State-Behrend Lions on Tuesday evening by the final score of 6-0.

Behrend took it to the Spartans early in the game, scoring three goals in the first 23 minutes of play. Despite falling behind early, the Spartans were not far behind the Lions in shots for the half. The team had five shots, with two each coming from Brittany Cristofanelli (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) and Cassandra Brooks (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island). Cristofanelli recorded the lone shot on goal in the first half while Brooks nearly scored her first goal of the season with a shot off the post.

Following the early goals, Behrend was shut out by the Spartans until halftime. Following the first 45 minutes, the Spartans trailed 3-0.

The Lions began the second half building upon their lead. Within the first five minutes of play of the second half, Behrend netted two more goals to bring their total to five. With just under 15 minutes remaining in the game, the Lions scored their sixth and final goal of the game. They would finish out the game with a 6-0 victory over D'Youville.

Brooks and Cristofanelli each had a team high two shots, with Kaylee Hesche (Newfane, NY/Newfane) and Jillian Golding (Lockport, NY/Lockport) each accounting for one. Megan Dulniak (Cheektowaga, NY/Cheektowaga) made four saves in the first half with Lauren Robinson (Westminster, MD/Winters Mill) playing the second.

The next game for the women will come at home on Saturday, September 30 as they host the Franciscan Barons. Game time is 3:15pm.
