Buffalo, NY - The D'Youville women's lacrosse team played the first game in their program history on Thursday afternoon, falling to the Buffalo State Bengals by the final score of 21-1.

Buff. State was the more experienced team throughout the game. They took a 13-0 lead into the half and built on that lead in the second half. They scored the first goal of the second half before Jillian Golding (Lockport, NY/Lockport) scored the first goal in program history to make the game 14-1. However, the Bengals would continue to roll and go on to win the game 21-1.

Golding led the team with three shots and five draw controls. Senior Jean-Ann Korona (Washingtonville, NY/Washingtonville) had a team high three ground balls, with Callan Smith (Amherst, NY/Amherst) grabbing two. On Golding's goal, senior Cassidy Tripi (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) picked up the assist.

The next game for the women comes on Saturday, March 18 as the Spartans host the University of Rochester at 1pm.
