Buffalo, NY - The D'Youville women's soccer team fell to the visiting Hilbert Hawks on Wednesday evening by the final score of 2-1.

The Spartans provided early offensive pressure with three corner kicks and one shot in the first nine minutes of play. Sophomore Magan Magee (Ellenburg Center, NY/Northern Adirondack) had two corners and the shot on goal, and was charging in on goal before being taken down in the box and giving the Spartans a penalty kick.

Senior Terra Juda (North Tonawanda, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) stepped to the penalty spot and buried her chance home, giving D'Youville the 1-0 lead in the 11th minute. The Spartan's defense held firm throughout the remainder of the first half and led 1-0 after 45 minutes.

Hilbert opened up the second half just six minutes in with a difficult shot from the end line to tie the game at 1-1. Then five minutes later, the Hawks took the lead off a loose ball in the box making the score 2-1. D'Youville would have just a handful of scoring chances late in the game but were unable to capitalize as the Hawks defeated the Spartans by the final score of 2-1.

Magee applied pressure to the Hilbert defense all game long, leading the team with five shots and two shots on goal. Kiernan Johnson (Cherry Valley, IL/Keith School), Rachel Hermanski (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale) and Juda each had two shots. Megan Dulniak (Cheektowaga, NY/Cheektowaga) made three saves in the game over the 90 minutes.

The women will host their final regular season game of the season this Saturday, October 22nd at 2pm against Penn State-Altoona. The team will be honoring the team's seniors prior to the game.
