Buffalo, NY - The D'Youville women's soccer team was shutout by the visiting Pitt.-Greensburg Bobcats Saturday afternoon by the final score of 5-0.

The Spartans started out the first 20 minutes of play as the aggressor on offense. The team had six shots, including two that were blocked and three that were saved. After surviving the Spartan's offensive onslaught, Greensburg capitalized on their first real opportunity of the game. At exactly the 26 minute mark, Greensburg got hold of a loose ball in the box and scored to take a 1-0 lead.

Just about five minutes later, Kiernan Johnson (Cherry Valley, IL/Keith School) rang a shot off the post that would have tied the game if it was inches to the left. However, the Bobcats scored in the 38th minute after a series of corners to bring the game to 2-0. They added another goal with :40 seconds left in the half to take a 3-0 lead into halftime.

Greensburg started the second half with plenty of momentum, scoring two additional goals in the first five minutes to bring their lead to 5-0. The Spartan offense wasn't able to get much going for the rest of the game as the Bobcats shut out the Spartans by the final score of 5-0.

Megan Dulniak (Cheektowaga, NY/Cheektowaga) made seven saves in the game. Johnson led the team with five shots, followed by Brittany Cristofanelli (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) with two. In all, 10 different Spartans had shots in the game.

The will next host the Hilbert Hawks on Wednesday, October 19th at 5pm at Dobson Field.
